Missile Hits Italian Base in Erbil Amid Rising Middle East Tensions
“Strong condemnation for the attack suffered by the Italian base in Erbil,” Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on the US social media platform X. He added that he had spoken with the Italian ambassador to Iraq regarding the incident.
“Fortunately, all our military personnel are well and safe in the bunker,” Tajani confirmed.
The strike occurred in the context of military operations initiated by the US and Israel against Iran on February 28, which have reportedly killed around 1,300 people, including high-ranking Iranian officials. In response, Iran has carried out drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US forces.
