Drone Crashes Near Residential Area in Baghdad

(MENAFN) A drone crashed near a home in Baghdad’s Al-Jihad neighborhood on Wednesday, Iraqi security sources told Anadolu. No casualties were reported, though photos circulating on social media show residents gathering at the crash site.

Eyewitnesses also reported hearing explosions in several other neighborhoods across the city. The crash comes amid repeated drone attacks targeting the US base at Baghdad International Airport, prompting authorities to set up multiple security checkpoints throughout the capital.

Earlier Wednesday, the group “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” claimed responsibility for 31 military operations against US bases in Iraq and the surrounding region within a single day.

The recent escalation follows joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran on Feb. 28, which reportedly killed over 1,200 people. Iran has retaliated with drone and missile
attacks on Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military forces.
